LEADING BUSINESSES IN SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT

   Leaders in Sustainable Transportation award

For the past three years, the Greater Montreal commuter management centres (or centres de gestion des déplacements—CGD) have recognized companies that promote alternatives to single-driver car use with the Leaders in Sustainable Transportation award.

In 2009, Hydro-Québec, Aéroports de Montréal and the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal received the Leader award, while Air Transat, CGI and the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de la Montagne received a continuity mention for successfully maintaining their sustainable transportation programs.

This year’s winners of the Leaders in Sustainable Transportation award will be revealed on September 21, during a corporate breakfast in their honour organized by the CGDs in collaboration with the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT), as part of Car-free Week activities.

  Company Challenge 2010

Participating in the Company Challenge is easy! All you have to do is commit to encouraging as many employees as possible to come to work using mass transit, walking or cycling on September 22, national Car-free Day. It’s a great opportunity to promote the transit services available to your company, or relaunch your sustainable transportation program!

Promotional tools and an online registration platform are available free of charge to support your campaign.

The winners will be those companies with the most successful mobilization efforts on September 22. They will be publicly congratulated on the stage of Car-free Day and enjoy local and regional media coverage. They will also receive prizes for employee drawings, including monthly AMT and STM transit passes, BIXI subscriptions and Communauto discounts. Those with the most outstanding results will be recognized as national winners.

Launched in Trois-Rivières in 2009, the Company Challenge is this year extended to the Saguenay and Montreal areas. Voyagez Futé and Développement Économique Saint-Laurent’s CGD are the promoters of the event for the Montreal metropolitan area.
